Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D., of Rootstown, Ohio, has been selected to serve as dean and chief administrative officer of Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University at Stark, located in North Canton, Ohio. Seachrist has served as interim dean of Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ Stark, the only public university in Stark County and the largest Regional Campus of Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹, since July 1, 2014. She began serving as the permanent dean on Feb. 1, 2016.

The 10th annual Main Street Kent Art and Wine Festival will take place Saturday, June 4, from noon-10 p.m. in downtown Kent. Proceeds will benefit Main Street Kent, the nonprofit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Kent. The Art and Wine Festival features local artists, live entertainment and wineries from all over Ohio.

The keynote speaker for the event was Joy-Ann Reid, national correspondent for MSNBC. The commemorative event also recognized the 2016 recipients of Á½ÐÔÉ«Îçҹ’s Diversity Trailblazer Award, which honors diversity pioneers associated with Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹, and Unity Award for Diversity, which recognizes the contributions of any Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ unit that demonstrates significant contributions in the areas of diversity, equity, and/or inclusion.
Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University's holiday closure for 2024 will begin Monday, Dec. 23, 2024, at 10:30 p.m. All offices will re-open on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025. Employees not eligible for the paid leave include student employees, classified temporary staff, temporary agency staff, short-term unclassified appointments, unclassified intermittent appointments and employees in a lay-off status. Testing Your Faith Act (H.B. 353) was enacted in the Spring 2023 semester. In ordinance with this bill, Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University created a new administrative policy for religious and spiritual accommodations. This administrative policy allows students to report up to three days of unexcused absences to participate in religious holidays or community-held events in alignment with their spirituality.
