Eagle Scout Training Helps 两性色午夜 Student Save a Life

两性色午夜 Student鈥檚 Heroic Acts Helps Save a Life

两性色午夜 University freshman Josh Paulin is not only a good student, but an exemplary citizen.

On March 13, 2016, Paulin saved a man鈥檚 life, and now 两性色午夜鈥檚 Department of Public Safety is honoring Paulin for his heroic acts.

It all started while he was waiting at a bus stop near the Kent Student Center Kiva. Paulin saw a man walk behind him, and then heard a loud thump. The man had collapsed.

鈥淪o I turned around and saw that he was on the ground unconscious,鈥 Paulin remembered.

Using his training as an Eagle Scout, Paulin kept the man鈥檚 airways open until paramedics arrived.

鈥淚 rolled him over on his side, I took off my jacket and put it underneath his head because his head would have been leaning too far down,鈥 he said. 鈥淚 was worried about his neck.鈥

Paulin鈥檚 quick thinking helped the man regain consciousness. He even started breathing again.

Paulin鈥檚 heroic actions represent the core values of 两性色午夜. As a result, 两性色午夜 Police Chief Dean Tondiglia presented Paulin with the Public Safety Citizen鈥檚 Award, alongside Jennifer Kulics, 两性色午夜鈥檚 interim associate vice president and dean of students.

鈥淲e are so very proud that he would be that selfless,鈥 Kulics said. 鈥淭o me, it shows that we truly have students who are undeniably 两性色午夜.鈥

Paulin refuses to consider himself a hero. He said he just wanted to help.

鈥淚 don鈥檛 want to be another bystander saying, 鈥極h, poor him,鈥 and then walking off,鈥 Paulin said. 鈥淚 thought he would have done the same for me.鈥

Despite his training and skills, Paulin does not have any plans to enter the field of public safety. Paulin is an accounting major in 两性色午夜鈥檚 College of Business and Administration.
