The Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University Board of Trustees welcomed the Class of 2026 at the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held Sept. 21 at the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University Airport. Á½ÐÔÉ«Îçҹ’s freshman class began classes on the Kent Campus nearly 7% larger than the previous year with 4,251 students – the eighth largest incoming class in the university’s 112-year history.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Haley Dees of Lisbon, Ohio, to the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University Board of Trustees as an undergraduate student trustee. Dees’ two-year term runs through May 16, 2024.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Christian Palich of Plain City, Ohio, to the Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University Board of Trustees. Palich will serve through May 16, 2031. Palich earned his bachelor’s degree in political science in 2009 from Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹.

The Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University Board of Trustees approved the establishment and registration of a Community Benefit Company in Rwanda, Africa, during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held May 25. Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ has realized an immediate need to establish a private limited company, designated as a not-for-profit Community Benefit Company, that can serve as a strategic starting point for engaging in the African continent’s expanding higher education market.

The Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the Bachelor of Social Work degree during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held March 8. The new degree was developed based on the high demand for licensed social workers within the areas surrounding Á½ÐÔÉ«Îçҹ’s Regional Campuses.  The program will be offered on the Ashtabula, Salem and Tuscarawas campuses.

The Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University Board of Trustees approved two new degree programs at its regular quarterly meeting held Wednesday, Dec. 15. The new majors – the Sport, Exercise and Performance Psychology major within the Bachelor of Science degree and the Emerging Media and Technology major within the Master of Science degree – will help meet the high demand for these types of programs and provide opportunities for students to find careers in these growing fields.
