Honors College Announces Distinguished Faculty Award Winner

Wick Poetry Center Starts Online Weekly Writing Workshops

During this time of social distancing, the Wick Poetry Center is working hard to convert its programs, creative writing tools and interactive traveling exhibits to an accessible and engaging online platform where you can participate in creative community discussion.

The landing page on our  provides several writing prompts to add your voice to growing community poems and a gallery of other expressions. Submit your text and video poems, and other creative reflections from home.

Traveling Stanzas not only embodies “Flashes taking care of Flashes,” but also “Flashes taking care of Ohioans.” One of our most impactful programs is weekly online writing workshops with Wick student interns and fellows, and KSU colleagues and the community.

Dr. Jessica Jewell, our program director, kicked off with a writing prompt and created short instructional videos to share with others. Charles Malone, program and outreach manager, led the second week. His video will soon post to add to the growing collection.


ɫҹ University Creates Emergency Grant Fund

Students currently enrolled for the Spring 2020 term can apply for up to $1,000 in emergency funds through the ɫҹ Emergency Grant Fund that assists with unforeseen expenses, including: tuition, fees, housing, food, books and other costs. Learn more.


School of Music Rebroadcasts Concert Series

The School of Music is rebroadcasting a series of concertson Fridays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 1 p.m. Listen in.


Strengthen Your Resilience with IMPACT Solutions

Building our resilience can help us learn to deal with life's challenges more effectively. Take advantage of the self-paced resiliency resources available to you and your family through the IMPACT Solutions Employee Assistance Program, including the Resilience Journey and the Resiliency Skills Training Series. Both offerings are available to all full and part time ɫҹ employees, plus dependents, household members and parents/parents-in-law. For full time, benefits eligible faculty and staff participating in the Wellness Your Way Rewards Program, these offerings are eligible for Tier 2 points. Read on to learn how to access these resources and earn points while you're at it!

Resilience Journey

Do you know your purpose in life? What you value? What makes you the happiest? This interactive program will take you on an enlightening journey that will open your eyes to your life's purpose while teaching you about the five core components of resilience: purpose, self-reliance, perseverance, balance, and being your own best friend. To get started, login to the with username: KENT. Click on the Resilience tile to access the Resilience Journey. The "journey" takes 1.5 to 2 hours to complete and does not need to be completed in one sitting. You must create an account on the IMPACT website to participate. To earn 30 Tier 2 points, submit your certificate of completion to Be Well Solutions along with FORM 15 from the .

Resiliency Skills Training Series

Resiliency is the "vaccine" against the adverse effects of stress, and research has shown that anyone can learn to be more resilient.When you learn and practice skills that help strengthen resilience, you can not only use the best skill for the issue, but you also lower your overall stress level and provide yourself better recovery time, which is key for lowering the adverse impacts of stress.The Resiliency Skills Training Series can be found in the Stress Less Center tile on the . There are several modules that can be viewed as series or stand alone. Earn up to 40 Tier 2 points by submitting your certificates of completion along with FORM 20 from the .


Employee Wellness Refreshes Website

The Employee Wellness website has a new look and feel better suited to highlight employee testimonials, wellness news, photos and more. The landing page offers more intuitive navigation of wellness resources and one-click access to frequently visited web pages, such as Be Well and IMPACT Solutions, the wellness calendar, ongoing events and Black Board Learn.

The redesign also features dedicated call-to-action boxes so employees and supervisors can easily access Telework Information and Guidelines, Know Your Numbers health screenings, Virtual Gratitude Graffiti, Weight Watchers workshops, and important guidelines regarding telework and the university’s flexible work arrangement policy.
