����ɫ��ҹ University held its 15th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 26 at 4 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. This year’s theme was “Testament of Hope: Past, Present and Future of Diversity.” The keynote speaker for the event was David Anderson, D.Phil. He is founder and president of the BridgeLeader Network (BLN), one of the world’s leading authorities on building bridges across the deep divides of race, faith, culture and wealth. 

����ɫ��ҹ University students, employees, alumni, donors and community members gathered on Saturday, Jan. 21, in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center) to cheer on the Golden Flashes as ����ɫ��ҹ Athletics launched its new branding and a whole new gameday experience. 

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell today announced the designation of the ����ɫ��ҹ University May 4, 1970, Site as a . The site joins more than 2,500 historic places that bear the national distinction.

����ɫ��ҹ University will hold its Fall Commencement ceremonies for the Kent Campus on Friday, Dec. 16, and Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center (MAC Center). ����ɫ��ҹ will confer 2,544 degrees, including 1,773 bachelor’s degrees, 715 master’s degrees, 55 doctoral degrees and one educational specialist degrees. 

����ɫ��ҹ University Libraries will once again provide the Stress-Free Zone on Monday, Dec. 12, and Tuesday, Dec. 13, from 3-5 p.m. in the University Library. The library hosts this event at the end of every semester in order to give students, faculty and staff the chance to unwind during finals week.

For an eighth consecutive year, ����ɫ��ҹ University has been named a 2017 Military Friendly® School.  Military Friendly is the military ratings division of Victory Media, a service-disabled, veteran-owned business that also publishes G.I.

����ɫ��ҹ University’s Scholar of the Month for December would prefer that you read this standing up, or even doing some calisthenics. Go on, get moving.

Jacob Barkley, Ph.D., is an associate professor of exercise science in ����ɫ��ҹ’s College of Education, Health and Human Services. During his 10 years with ����ɫ��ҹ, he has earned a name for himself as a scholar who wants to get people thinking about how they move, and moving better so they can think better.

Mietek Jaroniec, Ph.D., a professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences at ����ɫ��ҹ University, was recently awarded the Medal of Marie Sklodowska-Curie by the Polish Chemical Society for his scientific achievements. 

����ɫ��ҹ University journalism major Jimmy Miller recently spent 10 weeks traveling the country examining the political views of white, working-class Americans, a group now credited as a difference maker in the successful campaign of President-elect Donald Trump.

The project was part of , a national Carnegie-Knight initiative. Each year, the program invites top student journalists from across the country to Arizona State University to report on and investigate a topic.
