Mathematics Education - B.S.E. Integrated Mathematics

The Bachelor of Science in Education degree in Integrated Mathematics (ADED) prepares future teachers to teach mathematics in grades 7 to 12.

Explore the Degree Program

There are six (6) required hours of mathematics education courses in the ADED program, and an additional three (3) hours field practicum course.

Students enrolled in the Integrated Mathematics degree program are provided experiences in the university classroom and field that enhance their understanding of students’ mathematical thinking throughout the adolescent years and appropriate pedagogies to facilitate engagement in more sophisticated mathematical thinking during this time frame.

Mathematics Education Courses

ADED 32268: The Secondary School Mathematics Curriculum

The secondary school mathematics curriculum will be examined. Student textbooks and recommendations will be investigated.

ADED 42268: Teaching Mathematics in Secondary Schools

Methodology and materials for effective teaching of secondary school mathematics will be discussed and implemented in field experiences.

ADED 42292: Field Work Practicum

This course includes a minimum 96-hour field experience in a middle or high school and includes observations, interviews, designing and teaching lessons. Students enrolling in this course should enroll in the mathematics-specific practicum. The course is taken concurrently with ADED 42268.
