The Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) program area offers graduate degree programs intended for those pursuing intensive advanced study in personally relevant curriculum and teaching areas.

Master's Program

The Curriculum and Instruction Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree is a professional development degree that strives to enhance each student's career aspirations, which are frequently tied to a future employment objective.
The C&I M.Ed. is organized into seven concentrations: Curriculum & Teaching Studies, English/Language Arts Education, Mathematics Education, Middle Childhood Education,  Science Education, Secondary Education, and Social Studies Education.

Ed.S. Program

The Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree in Curriculum and Instruction provides a wide range of graduate study opportunities in progressive, research-based curriculum and teaching practices. The program provides educators with advanced professional development beyond the master's degree for those who wish to become university educators or to hold leadership positions in areas of curriculum, supervision, and teacher education.

Ph.D. Program

The Curriculum and Instruction program offers the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree to qualified students interested in issues related to educational curriculum and instruction. Eight concentrations are available within the C&I Ph.D. program: Adapted Physical Education/Physical Education, Curriculum and Teaching Studies, Early Childhood Education, Educational Technology, Literacy, Mathematics Education, Science Education, and Social Studies Education.

Ed.D. Program

The Doctor of Education degree in Interprofessional Leadership allows for the study of leadership from an interprofessional perspective that is framed around questions of equity, ethics, and social justice to bring about solutions to complex problems of practice. The program prepares leaders who can construct and apply knowledge to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals, families, organizations, and communities. Field-based opportunities are provided to analyze problems of practice and use multiple frames to develop meaningful solutions. Curriculum & Instruction is one of five cognate areas available in this program, which is housed within the School of Foundations, Leadership and Administration. Offered 100% online, the Ed.D. in Interprofessional Leadership is cohort-based and structured with the working professional in mind.
