The New Center for the Visual Arts
Construction began in summer 2014 on the newly envisioned Center for the Visual Arts. The plan included complete renovation of both Van Deusen Hall and the Art Annex/heating plant with an integrating walkway and classrooms connecting the two former buildings. This multi-year project resulted in the collection of all School of Art programs - art education, art history and studio art - having a home in one building.
The Center for the Visual Arts had it's grand opening in 2016. The 127,900-square-foot facility — twice the length of a football field — is LEED registered (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design), obtaining Silver certification.
