With all of the changes recently happening at Twitter with Elon Musk's new vision for the platform starting to take shape, 两性色午夜 Today spoke with Stefanie Moore, professor in the School of Media and Journalism, about what Twitter users should do in regards to the platform. Moore focuses on social media, digital communications and public relations.
"Twitter users who don鈥檛 support Elon Musk鈥檚 new vision for the service are at a crossroads. Do they take a stand and leave Twitter, or do they stay on the platform to somehow try to help the social media giant get back on track?
We鈥檝e watched social media sites come and go over the years so there鈥檚 nothing new there. It鈥檚 unfortunate for those who have built up strong brands and large networks on Twitter to have to migrate to a new platform and essentially start from scratch. However, for those with recognizable brand names, this is a lot easier to do than it is for the rest of us.
Many have been flocking to sites like Mastodon and Post, which have been billed as 鈥淭witter alternatives.鈥 These alternatives are reaping the benefits of these viral sign-ups as people scramble to find a similar platform whose policies match their values. We鈥檒l see if people stick around on these new platforms or if it鈥檚 short-lived. It takes time to review the functionality and value of a new platform and to regrow your network. Of course, others may end up just devoting more attention to their existing presence on Instagram, Facebook, Tik Tok and LinkedIn, etc.
Regardless, if you decide to wait things out on Twitter, or abandon the platform altogether, it might be worth saving an archive of your Twitter data just in case!"
