Researchers Discuss Drug Prevention Infrastructure for Three Ohio Counties

Researchers at 两性色午夜 University were featured on Spectrum News 1 discussing the development and implementation of their drug prevention infrastructure for three Ohio counties.

According to Spectrum News 1, Ohio is leading the nation when it comes to opioid-related deaths. In 2017, Ohio came in second for the most drug overdoses. Researchers at 两性色午夜 University are teaming up to tackle this problem.

Through a $1.5 million grant, 两性色午夜 researchers Deric Kenne, associate professor in the College of Public Health and Ruoming Jin, professor in the Department of Computer Science, plan to create software that will monitor and detect substance abuse in Portage, Geauga, and Lake counties. The researchers will take data from health departments, hospitals, and their social media data to identify hot spots of substance abuse in each county and predict future substance abuse trends.
