The three-year grant, from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will enable the college鈥檚 Center for Public Policy and Health to collaborate with Medina County鈥檚 Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Board to provide the training. The partnership recently was featured in an article in the Medina Gazette.

Deric Keene, associate professor and associate director of the Division of Mental Health & Substance Use at the Center for Public Policy & Health, said Medina County was selected for the grant because his department 鈥渁lready had some connections in that community and knew that there was a need for mental health training in the schools.鈥

School districts receiving training are Black River, Brunswick, Buckeye, Cloverleaf, Highland, Medina city, Medina County Career Center and Wadsworth.
