Graduate Assistantships
The graduate stipend is $18,540, paid out in monthly installments over the nine months of the Fall and Spring semesters. All applicants are considered for funding. Graduate assistantships involve 20 hours of work a week during the fall and spring semesters. The 20 hours may be divided between research and teaching, or all 20 hours may be in either teaching or research. A teaching assistantship typically involves helping a faculty member advise students (e.g., holding office hours), grading exams, giving guest lectures, and administrative tasks such as keeping track of grades. A research assistantship typically involves assisting a faculty member with running experiments, coding data, or organizing bibliographic materials.
Graduate assistants must maintain full-time student status (8 graduate hours minimum) and be in good academic standing (see our for further details). Graduate assistants may not accept any other employment on campus without prior approval from the department and Graduate Studies Office.
For all International students:
The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University to make this offer contingent upon proof of work authorization. This will be verified during the Graduate Student Orientation mentioned above. Absent such verification, no appointment can be awarded.
