Model NATO

The 2018 KSU Model NATO team did extremely well in this year's national competition.  Competing against 20 universities and colleges from the US, Canada, the UK, Belgium, and Sweden, this year's team led by senior co-captains Melanie Mohler and Gabe Lorenz, and representing Spain, included Veronica Ruhe, Jared Strubel, Padraigin O'Flynn, Sarah Ballard, Jake Pelrine, Reuben Francis, and Nate Flauto.  The team took home individual delegate awards in four of the six committees.  Based on their collective performance, the KSU Model NATO team received a Superior Delegation award. Congratulations to this year's team for your excellent performance!

For additional Photographs, see t taken by Daniel Hern谩ndez Mart铆nez, an intern at the Spanish Embassy who visited the competition and took photos of the 两性色午夜 team as they represented the Kingdom of Spain. Thank you Daniel.

Information about the Model NATO

Howard University, Converse College and the 两性色午夜 Center for NATO and European Union Studies, in collaboration with Embassies of NATO member states in Washington, DC, sponsor an annual simulation of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in the form of a Model NATO conference.

Overall, this is a great thing that is available at 两性色午夜.  It was one of the highlights of not only my semester but my entire time here.  I have had a number of interesting classes that fostered the development of my knowledge and passion, I have participated in extracurricular activities that have made these four years great, but this trip was something different from just about anything I had done before in my college career.

Gabriel Lorenz, Political Science and History Major (2015)

The Model is essentially a simulation of the proceedings of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, augmented by pre-conference study and briefings at embassies of NATO member states in Washington, DC. It provides a unique opportunity for university and college students to study the role, structure and activities of NATO, as well as the military, political-security, economic, and social issues facing the Alliance.

Through simulation, students gain a better and clearer understanding of the capabilities and constraints that shape the policies of NATO countries in determining matters of collective security. Apart from dealing with a prepared agenda, students grapple with a contemporary crisis to be revealed at the Model.

Each participating university represents a Member State of NATO and /or a Partnership for Peace (PfP) Member State. Upon registration, you shall receive preparatory material, which shall include the Agenda, Country Profile, Delegation Handbook and pertinent NATO publications.

Each delegation shall be briefed at the Embassy of the country it represents.
