The Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ Golden Flashes football team (6-6) is bowling for the fourth time in school history, having accepted a bid to the Tropical Smoothie Cafe Frisco Bowl against Utah State (7-5, Mountain West).
The game will take place on Friday, Dec. 20, at 7:30 p.m. at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas, with coverage on ESPN2. It will be the first bowl game for Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ since the 2013 GoDaddy.com Bowl (2012 season). The Frisco Bowl joins the GoDaddy.com Bowl, Tangerine Bowl (1972) and the Refrigerator Bowl (1954) as the postseason berths in Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ football history.
The Golden Flashes were the only Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) team to win their last three games to become bowl eligible. Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ defeated Buffalo (30-27), Ball State (41-38) and Eastern Michigan (34-26) to improve to 6-6 on the season.
Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ is one of eight teams with a four game or better turnaround from 2018, having improved from 2-10 to 6-6 in head coach Sean Lewis’ second season at the helm.
Utah State (7-5, 6-2) is led by quarterback Jordan Love. The junior has thrown for more than 3,000 yards and 17 touchdowns this season.
