Could Racial Stress Play a Role in Infant Mortality and Low Birth Weight?

A low socioeconomic status might not be the underlying cause of infant mortality and low birth weight among African American babies. Instead, researchers are looking at the role stress plays.

Angela Neal-Barnett, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences in 两性色午夜 University鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences, explains how racism causes stress, which in turns causes the body to over produce stress hormones, affecting mother and baby.
