Katie Butler, M.F.A. Painting 2021
Katie Butler, M.F.A. Painting 2021, has her debut solo show in New York opening on Jan. 6, 2023. The show is called "" and will be open January through February 2023 in Hesse Flatow, New York, New York. The show depicts the disparity between legislative members and the communities they represent, as well as capitalism's role in the current political climate. Recently, Katie was featured in the national publication New American Painting.
Mike Alejandro, M.F.A. Candidate
Current M.F.A. Candidate Mike Alejandro was just featured on Around Akron with Blue and Green (PBS) in a video interview. He speaks about his creative process and the resources available to local artists. Summit Artspace in Akron strives to support artists through every step of the creative process.
The interview is in conjunction with his solo show "little by little and was by was", at the Summit Art Space 3G Gallery, Akron, OH. The gallery was open until Dec. 17, 2022.
Nicholas Lee B.F.A. Painting 2021
Recent B.F.A. alumni, Nicholas Lee, was featured in Canvas magazine's article. He also presented a solo show "Between Cultures and People" at Negative Space Gallery, Cleveland, OH, from September 2022 through October 2022. The show address the need for Asian representation in portrait paintings. He uses his unique experience and background to contribute to the arts community.
Sarah Esposito M.F.A. Painting 2022
Sarah Esposito, M.F.A. Painting 2022, has work featured at with an outdoor solo presentation of work in Tremont, OH. She uses abstract elements to reflect systematic occurrences and interruptions found in landscapes through her perception of the natural world. Her paintings include relationships between color, shape, and surface to communicate the various brief moments within a landscape.
Professor Gianna Commito
Professor Gianna Commito has a two-person show at in San Francisco. The gallery opened on December 1, 2022 and runs through January 21, 2023 with a closing public reception on January 13 from 6-8 pm.
