How often do you interact with artificial intelligence (AI) each day? Do you communicate with a chatbot for customer service? Does your fitness tracker remind you to move? Do you receive product recommendations based on previous purchases? Do you use AI to help you with school or work? As a public relations professor, I’m studying the ethical use of AI in the public relations field and guiding my students to ethically use AI tools.

Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ alumnus Richard Batyko, M.A., ’12, has committed his life and career to making the world, specifically Greater Cleveland, a better place. This year, he and the YMCA of Greater Cleveland (for which he serves as Chief Marketing Officer) are working with Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ University advertising and public relations seniors in the capstone class, Campaigns in Advertising and Public Relations, to raise awareness about the organization's mission.
With fake news running rampant across the country, organizations like the News Literacy Project are on a mission to create better informed, more engaged and more empowered individuals. This spring, Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ public relations students earned national recognition for their work creating a campaign that advanced this non-profit’s mission.
Á½ÐÔÉ«Îçҹ’s Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA Kent) Chapter won three national awards, including the prestigious Dr. F.H. Teahan Award for University Service. The national award was announced during the Awards Ceremony Brunch at the International Public Relations Student Society Conference in Dallas on Nov. 14, 2022.
