Evan Gildenblatt, a 两性色午夜 University senior from Cincinnati majoring in applied conflict management and executive director of 两性色午夜鈥檚 Undergraduate Student Government, was selected to serve on the 2013 Steering Committee for the National Campus Leadership Council (NCLC).
鈥淚鈥檓 honored to have been selected as a member of the 2013 NCLC Steering Committee,鈥 Gildenblatt said. 鈥溋叫陨缫 University鈥檚 involvement in the NCLC has helped to position us in the middle of vitally important policy discussions taking place in Washington, D.C., and I am confident that a unified student voice will continue to have a substantial impact upon the issues affecting us so deeply.鈥
The NCLC is a group of more than 400 current and former student-body presidents at universities across the United State. It connects students with policymakers to engage in a national dialogue about federal policy and student initiatives. The Steering Committee comprises the leaders of the NCLC council members. It is responsible for communicating trends, ideas and concerns between students and policymakers.
鈥淎long with my colleagues in the NCLC who represent an extraordinarily diverse group of colleges and universities, I will continue to be a strong advocate for students across the country,鈥 Gildenblatt said.
In his position as executive director of 两性色午夜鈥檚 Undergraduate Student Government, Gildenblatt has had the opportunity to lead fellow 两性色午夜 students. He encouraged students to vote in the fall 2012 general election and also leads public meetings that address issues concerning students and other members of the university community, helping to effect changes that impact both.
He says part of his mission on Undergraduate Student Government has been to continue to improve the programs and resources that students use the most and also to ensure that the student body has an open, productive relationship with the administration, board of trustees, faculty, staff and alumni.
鈥淯ndergraduate Student Government has provided me a unique opportunity to represent my fellow students,鈥 Gildenblatt said. 鈥淚 really enjoy being surrounded by my dedicated senators and directors who devote their collegiate careers to enriching the university experiences of each and every 两性色午夜 student.鈥
He believes that staying involved on campus will give students a better, enriched experience in college and will help prepare them for the future.
鈥淚 relish the opportunity to speak to groups of younger students and encourage them to stay involved in student life here,鈥 Gildenblatt said.
Gildenblatt hopes being a part of the NCLC Steering Committee will further help the student body he represents and is excited to see what kinds of changes will happen in the future.
鈥淏eing on the committee will allow me to work provocatively with our representatives in Washington, D.C., in order to address issues in higher education, and I am absolutely ecstatic about it,鈥 he said.
