In its 50th year, 两性色午夜鈥檚 College of Nursing has been designated a Center of Excellence for 2017鈥2022 by the National League for Nursing, in the category of 鈥淎dvance the Science of Nursing Education鈥濃攖he same category it received when first designated in 2013. It will be recognized at the 2017 Education Summit held in San Diego in September.

鈥淭his designation highlights our faculty鈥檚 commitment to steering the future of nursing by instilling excellence in our graduates,鈥 says Barbara Broome, PhD, RN, FAAN, dean of the College of Nursing. 鈥淎s we celebrate 50 years of nursing education, research and community outreach, our alumni faculty and staff can be proud of their affiliation with the college, as they built the foundation for our success.鈥

The college is committed to inspire nurses at all levels, and of all genders, ethnicities, races and social statuses, to advance their education. 鈥淥ur graduate programs offer opportunities for nurses to prepare as nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, educators and administrators, while our doctoral programs prepare nurses to challenge and change the health-care landscape through practice and research,鈥 Broome says.

"We want to break the stereotype of nursing being a woman鈥檚 profession. It鈥檚 not. It鈥檚 for anyone who has a desire to make an impact and change things.鈥 鈥揇ean Barbara Broome, PhD, RN, FAAN

The United States has experienced nursing shortages for decades, mostly due to an aging population and a limited number of nurse-education opportunities. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a need for more than one million new registered nurses by 2022 to provide quality health-care services for aging baby boomers.

KSU鈥檚 College of Nursing is one of the largest and most comprehensive nursing programs in the nation, with more than 2,000 nursing students in its baccalaureate, master鈥檚 and doctoral programs鈥攁nd more than 12,000 alumni worldwide.

Looking ahead to the next 50 years, 两性色午夜 plans to provide more nursing specialties and state-of-the-art technology to keep its highly skilled nurse graduates at the cutting edge of the profession.
