This week, Alexis Harris is back to talk about study tips and test prep for midterms!
It’s midterm time! Let’s talk about study tips and test prep. Studying is going to be different for every student because not everyone learns the same, but here are a few study tips for all types of students.
Over the last four years, I have developed some really awesome study tips, but I’ve also had a lot of failures along the way.
First and foremost, find your safe space to study! For some students, this may be a quiet room by themselves while for others it may be a restaurant or in a large study group with peers.
Second, remember to take breaks! It can be hard sometimes when you are in “the zone,” but chances are you will feel better if you take a second to relax or eat a snack. For me, the has been really helpful for regulating my breaks and work time! It has also helped me stay motivated.
Third, don’t be afraid to ask for help. ɫҹ Geauga and Twinsburg Academic Center has an awesome tutoring center as well as many great faculty members who would love to help you with whatever you are struggling with. While I recommend utilizing faculty office hours throughout the entire semester, now is a great time to utilize them if you have not done so already. One-on-one time with your professor can help you learn the information you may be struggling with and gain greater insight into the material.
Fourth, utilize your study guides for test prep. If your professors do not provide study guides, ask them some questions about what may be on the test during office hours, and then create your own study guide.
My final tip is to find what works for you! This may be a trial and error process, so start studying early, and don’t forget that you always have someone to lean on at KSUGTAC!
