Peggy Nzomo, University Libraries, is the 2016 recipient of the American Library Association (ALA) International Relations Committee’s “Bogle-Pratt International Library Travel Fund.” She received this award at the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) World Library and Information Congress held Aug. 13-19 in Columbus, Ohio. She also was one of 50 librarians who received the 2016 IFLA Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Fellows scholarship.

Since the holiday season calls for delicious and indulgent foods like pumpkin pie, candied yams, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, not surprisingly a person consumes an average of 3,000 calories at Thanksgiving dinner – 1,000 over the recommended daily intake, according to Spoon University.
The average person gains six to 10 pounds over the holiday season, says Tanya Falcone, registered dietitian and nutritional outreach coordinator at ɫҹ University. This can lead to significant weight gain over the years that does not shed, even after the New Year.

The Peace Basket Project gears up for its 21st year. The Professional Women of ɫҹ University started the Peace Basket Project in 1997, when a group of members created baskets of “little things” to share with the residents served by the King Kennedy Center. While the Professional Women of ɫҹ University is no longer active, this annual event continues with the support of members of the ɫҹ community.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed ɫҹ University in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, ɫҹ remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
