Dean Susan Stocker Named Interim Regional College Dean

ASHTABULA, Ohio (April 23, 2015)— ɫҹ University Provost Todd Diacon announced Thursday that Dr. Susan Stocker, Dean and Chief Administrative Officer for ɫҹ University at Ashtabula, will be serving as Interim Dean of the Regional College for ɫҹ University starting July 1.  Stocker will continue in her capacity as dean of the ɫҹ Ashtabula campus while serving a two-year term as the Regional College interim dean.  Stocker has led the Ashtabula campus as dean since 2001, and also served as interim dean of the College of Nursing during the 2013 academic year.

The Regional College is the academic unit for certificates and degrees only offered at ɫҹ’s seven regional campuses.  The Regional College consists of 120 full-time faculty and program directors and houses nine programs with specialized accreditation, such as Ashtabula’s health degrees.  Responsibilities of the Regional College dean include representing all regional campuses to ɫҹ University administration, developing a strategic plan and annual goals for the growth of the regional campuses, and conducting reviews of degree programs and faculty appointments.

“I appreciate the opportunity to continue to serve in a leadership capacity at ɫҹ University and to represent all regional campuses at the administrative level.  Our regional campuses are an asset to the ɫҹ University system and enable residents of Northeast Ohio to get a quality education close to home,” said Stocker.

The Regional College dean position is being left vacant by Dr. Wanda Thomas as she retires after 10 years of service to ɫҹ University.

ɫҹ University at Ashtabula’s financial aid office will host a pair of FAFSA Nights to aid students and families work their way through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the college financial aid process.

The events are open to new or existing students who live in the Ashtabula area – not just ɫҹ students! ɫҹ Ashtabula advisors will help walk through the process.

The sessions will be held on the following dates in Susan J. Stocker Hall (3300 Lake Road West, Ashtabula):

Students and agencies throughout northeastern Ohio are the beneficiaries of ɫҹ University's College of Applied and Technical Studies' new Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, currently offered in a hybrid model through the Ashtabula, Salem and Tuscarawas Campuses. 

Program director and lecturer Matt Butler, MSSA, LISW-S, LICDC-CS recently welcomed the Star Beacon into one of his classes in the Zoom Room for a first-hand look at the growing program and its potential to make a huge impact in our area.

ɫҹ University at Ashtabula’s annual Giving Tuesday fundraising drive began on Nov. 1, 2024, aimed at supporting the Susan J. Stocker Ashtabula Campus Development Fund toward renovation and improvements to the John W. Zabak Conference Suite – the Blue and Gold, Oak and Lake Rooms – within Susan J. Stocker Hall.
