Eight nursing students recently attended the National Student Nurses' Association (NSNA) convention in Nashville, TN. While at the convention, Kristina Chapman and Emily Trunick presented a poster presentation entitled, “Safe Sleep Initiative: Impacting Community Health.â€

"This was a great opportunity and learning experience," said Emily Trunick, nursing student and President of Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹ Trumbull's Student Nurses' Association. "Our class has examined ways to reduce high infant mortality rates in our area. Talking to others about our community project helps us realize how important it is to educate people in the importance of safe sleep."

Students met and networked with faculty, nursing leaders, and nursing students from across the country. The annual convention offers seminars, workshops and nursing test reviews that enhance their clinical and academic skills. The experience also provides educational opportunities and lifelong memories.
