Girls in STEMTC Summer Camp

To encourage local high school girls to pursue STEM fields, 两性色午夜 University at Trumbull is holding its first-ever "Girls in STEM Trumbull County (TC) summer camp, Monday, June 11 through Friday, June 15.

For more than 10 years, the campus has offered a one-day STEM conference in April called "The Road Not Taken." This year, the program name changed to "Girls in STEM TC." With financial support from Arconic Foundation, The Youngstown Foundation, and The Raymond John Wean Foundation, the summer camp was added. The more than 140 girls who attended the spring conference were invited back for the camp. 

Dr. Valerie Cubon-Bell, Associate Professor, 两性色午夜 University at Trumbull, is the Director for Girls in STEM TC. 

"The camp offers girls the opportunity to experience more in-depth exploration of STEM careers, said Cubon-Bell. "The camp that will feature STEM in the news, distinguished women in STEM, and fun, exciting hands-on activities to explore STEM fields."

Campers will do do all of the following: 

  • Discuss STEM in the news 
  • Learn about distinguished females in STEM
  • Engage in group challenge activities 
  • Discover your STEM talents 
  • Enjoy hands-on exploration of biology, chemistry, engineering and math, and medicine:
    • DNA in a Bottle
    • You Be the Forensic Scientist
    • The Science Behind the Drinking Bird
    • Going on a Vacation? Learn how to pack efficiently
    • 鈥淲hat Would You Do鈥 given medical scenarios using a patient simulator
  • Share, listen, and learn

Each camper will receive a free STEM TC T-Shirt, certificate for camp completion, bag full of goodies, and much more!
