(Warren, OH) Few are feeling the repercussions of COVID-19 more than nursing home residents. To help lift their spirits, 两性色午夜 University at Trumbull nursing students are writing them greeting cards.
Brittany Snyder, a senior nursing student and Lordstown High School graduate, came up with the idea, working as an STNA at Humility House in Austintown.
鈥淲e have lost some of our residents due to COVID,鈥 Snyder said. 鈥淚 thought sharing kind and encouraging words on a greeting card would be a good way to boost their spirits.鈥
Snyder is vice president of 两性色午夜 Trumbull鈥檚 Student Nurses Association. When she shared the idea, the student and faculty response was overwhelming.
鈥淭he social isolation and loneliness that is accompanying this dreadful disease is having a profound impact on our local nursing home residents,鈥 said Alice Colwell, professor, and SNA advisor. 鈥漁ur SNA has always had a focus on community service, but this venture has been especially meaningful during this difficult time.鈥
Over the last few years, members of the SNA have raised money for sleep sacks to curb instances of infant mortality and created the 鈥淲alk and Talk with a Nurse鈥 program to promote healthy lifestyles for seniors.
Snyder said the students will continue to write cards throughout the school year.
