Wick Poetry Center Holds Contest to Commemorate May 4

While teaming up with The Academy of American Poets, the Wick Poetry Center at 两性色午夜 University created a national contest where poems were submitted to honor the 50th commemoration of May 4, 1970.

The Wick Poetry Center encourages new aspiring poets through scholarship opportunities and provides creators of all expertise the outlet to engage in workshops and publications.

Wick Poetry Center Director David Hassler reported to KentWired that over the span of three months, nearly 600 submissions were sent in. Through all of these applicants, three winners and two honorable mentions were chosen.

One of the winners, Megan Neville, a high school teacher in Cleveland, holds a personal connection to the events of May 4 and shares that in her poem 鈥淟egacy.鈥

鈥淚t鈥檚 called 鈥楲egacy鈥 because the legacy of both a child going to the school that their parent went to,鈥 Neville told Kentwired.com, 鈥渂ut it鈥檚 also what that whole generation leaves behind and what we鈥檝e hopefully learned from them.鈥
