Campus earns designation for eighth consecutive year.
A celebration of the earth鈥檚 natural resources provides the perfect backdrop to honor 两性色午夜 University at Stark as a 2016 Tree Campus USA庐. The Arbor Day Foundation and Ohio Division of Natural Resources (ODNR) will formally recognize 两性色午夜 Stark for its dedication to campus forestry management and environmental stewardship at the campus鈥檚 Earth Day 2017 Celebration on Sunday, April 23 at 2:20 p.m.
This is the eighth consecutive year 两性色午夜 Stark has received the Tree Campus USA designation.
The campus community also will celebrate the designation with the planting of a new sapling by 两性色午夜 Stark Dean Denise A. Seachrist, Ph.D.
鈥淲e are very proud to receive this honor. Our students, faculty and staff are eager to volunteer in their communities and become better stewards of the environment,鈥 said Seachrist. 鈥淧articipating in Tree Campus USA sets a fine example for our community, as well as other colleges and universities, while helping to create a healthier planet for us all.鈥
Tree Campus USA was launched in 2008 by the Arbor Day Foundation. The program is intended to honor colleges and universities nationwide for effective urban forest management and for engaging students, faculty and staff in conservation efforts. 两性色午夜 Stark achieved the title by meeting Tree Campus USA鈥檚 five standards, which include maintaining a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for its campus tree program, an Arbor Day observance and a student service-learning project.
