Spring 2022: Special COVID Issue
Message from the Dean
Over the last two years, we have faced challenges like never before. The COVID-19 pandemic has profoundly impacted the world and our lives. It forced us to reconfigure every aspect of our work and study. It affected our physical and mental wellbeing, and posed extraordinary demands on our health care system and on public health professionals.
Yet these two difficult years have also allowed us to come together as a community and create new opportunities. As we begin the third year of the pandemic, I continue to be inspired by the impact that CPH students, faculty, staff, and alumni are making throughout the University, in our local communities and around the world. The College played a pivotal role in the pandemic response, and I am extremely grateful to work alongside a community that has proven resilient and shown its true values and strengths more than ever.
In this special issue, I am pleased to feature some of the great efforts that the CPH community has done and continues to do in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. You will read about how CPH faculty are at the forefront of COVID-19 research and response, about how our alumni are supporting their communities鈥搕hanks to the knowledge and experience gained at CPH, and how our students stepped up and made a difference.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your resilience and for your commitment to the College during the past two years of pandemic. Our students, faculty, staff, and alumni are what make CPH a family, and only with your support we will continue to live our mission.
Yours in good health,
Sonia Alemagno
Dean, College of Public Health
