The LGBTQ Studies minor enables students enrolled in any major to be inspired by and to learn from expert scholars in the field of LGBTQ Studies.
The minor offers a wide variety of substantive course work, allowing students to examine the history and socio-political context, oppression and resistance, organizing, and individual leaders of LGBTQ communities around the globe.
Why LGBTQ Studies?
Students in the LGBTQ Studies program have the opportunity to share educational and active experiences with peers across disparate majors, areas of expertise, and backgrounds. Because the minor is situated within a multidisciplinary school, and because the program is open to students of any major across the University, course conversations and inquiry benefit from the diversity of perspectives brought by students with a range of learning backgrounds and perspectives.
The program also offers a range of opportunities outside of the classroom. Students can work with the LGBTQ Studies program director to pursue internships or participate in one of our faculty-led study abroad programs. Faculty within the minor often work collaboratively with student groups, the LGBTQ Center and other community organizations to co-sponsor speakers and events that are open to the entire community.
We invite students to participate in any of these opportunities. Learning is a life-long process, and one we share across the Kent community. Let鈥檚 discover together!
