Student Allison Krause was interested in art making and art history and loved to paint. She volunteered at a residential facility for those with mental illness and cared deeply about what was happening in the world around her. Inspired by Allison, Kathy Walker, Ph.D., will lead participants in an art making session, exploring their personal thoughts on peace through collage and introducing art making as a practice for improving mental health. Before coming to Á½ÐÔÉ«ÎçÒ¹, Walker was a practicing art therapist. She is an associate professor in Human Development and Family Science. Her research has focused on children’s understanding of war and peace as conveyed in their drawings and descriptions.

Join us to make your own peace-themed project! Supplies will be provided.

Our exhibit Allison the Protestor, focuses on the life of Allison Krause and will be on display through November 17.
