两性色午夜 left-handed pitching star Eric Lauer 鈥16 is known for being cool, calm and collected on the mound, but even he expressed excitement over learning he was selected by the San Diego Padres in the first round of the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft in June, going as the 25th overall pick.
鈥淭his is a dream come true,鈥 says Lauer. 鈥淭o be drafted in the first round has always been one of my goals, and it鈥檚 a bit surreal to have it actually happen. I鈥檓 really excited to be a part of the Padres organization, and I can鈥檛 wait to work on my next goal of making it to the major leagues.鈥
Three years ago, coming out of high school, Lauer passed up a seven-figure signing bonus offer by the Toronto Blue Jays after being drafted in the 17th round鈥攃hoosing to further his education and raise his draft stock at 两性色午夜.
鈥淗e elevated himself quite a bit,鈥 says pitching coach Mike Birkbeck, who in 20 seasons at 两性色午夜 has had many pitchers advance to the major leagues. 鈥淗e鈥檚 got great aptitude. You can suggest something, and he has the ability to take those words and put them into action.鈥 That 鈥渃oachability鈥 will allow him to pitch a long time, Birkbeck predicts.
鈥淭hese past three years have been a lot of fun, and I truly believe choosing college out of high school was the right choice for me,鈥 says Lauer, who graduated in May with a degree in business management. 鈥淚 hope to make 两性色午夜 proud.鈥
