The Division of Information Services (IS) is now the Division of Information Technology (DoIT).
While this may not seem like a significant change, the previous name caused confusion among students, faculty and staff as to what services we provide. We are predominantly an IT service organization, providing technology services such as designing and maintaining network and telephone infrastructure, protecting institutional data, developing systems and applications, and providing technology training to encourage digital fluency. Our new name better reflects the type of services we provide and helps avoid confusion with a general information desk.
We are currently in the process of identifying instances of the terms “Information Services” and “IS” in our systems, signage, print materials, etc. We aim to have everything updated with the new name by the end of the Spring Semester.
We have also updated our website, so please be sure to correct links to any IS pages you may have in your website or bookmarks.
In conjunction with the name change, we created a new mission statement, vision statement and core values to direct and describe division operations. Our mission is:
- To be relevant, anticipating the needs of the university community and effectively addressing a dynamic world with creative, impactful and efficient solutions built in a reliable, agile and secure digital environment.
- To advance ɫҹ's mission by inspiring and enabling students, faculty, staff and researchers to do extraordinary things.
