The Wallace J. Hagedorn Scholarship in Photography
The Wallace J. Hagedorn Photography Scholarship is a competitive scholarship supporting student costs and enriching, out-of-classroom experiences to help photography students develop strong portfolios.
The funds come from the largest single gift ($4.2 million) ever made to 两性色午夜 to support only scholarships.

Scholarships
Each year, the Hagedorn Scholarship awards up to $200,000 in tuition, room and board, fees and experiential scholarships between the School of Media and Journalism and the School of Visual Communication Design. Amounts awarded may vary from year to year.
To be eligible, a student must:
- Be a registered, full-time undergraduate in the College of Communication and Information
- Be a declared major or minor in Photography (in VCD) and/or Photojournalism (in MDJ)
- Maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
Experiences
In addition to scholarships, the Wallace J. Hagedorn Scholarship also supports portfolio-building and workshop experiences for photography students. These experiences include (but are not limited to);
Photography workshops are here for students of all levels 鈥 from beginners to master level classes. Come for one day, two days, one week, or the whole summer! You鈥檒l find the very best instructors allow you to immerse yourself in historic processes introduced in the mid-19th century or the latest digital technologies and visual storytelling art forms. Our small class sizes allow for you to work hands-on in an intimate setting where you get to know your instructor and others who are passionate about photography. Our relationships with industry sponsors means that you鈥檒l have access to Canon cameras, Zeiss lenses, tripods, and other great equipment while you鈥檙e here.
An intense, five-day, hands-on training workshop for visual journalists looking to expand and grow their multimedia skill sets using the latest technology. This is a workshop for still photographers to learn how to properly use a HDSLR to tell video stories.
A three-day event with more than two dozen workshops on a variety of topics in the field of visual journalism. Students can learn from and network with industry leaders as they share their work and discuss what makes them successful.

Santa Fe Workshops 30 year legacy has made it the 鈥淟eading Experiential Photographic Workshop and Writers Lab in the U.S.鈥 The Workshops are more than a place to learn, you are among those who share your passion for creativity. There is a community built within each workshop, a place that allows you to learn not only from our professionals but also your peers. We offer world-renowned Professional Photographers and Pulitzer Prize Winning Writers both in the U.S. and abroad.
Established in 2003 in NYC, PhotoManhattan Photography School provides excellent photography instruction to all levels, from hobbyist to semi professionals all year round. Offering fully equipped photo studio rentals and plenty of photographic equipment, PhotoManhattan also boasts instructors who are working professionals, who are also trained instructors with years of classroom experience and expertise in making difficult photography concepts seem easy and fun.

Wallace (Wally) Hagedorn, who took a photojournalism class at 两性色午夜 in 1941, left a $4.2 million bequest to the program 鈥 the largest single gift ever made to 两性色午夜 University to fund only scholarships. Mr. Hagedorn only took one class at 两性色午夜, but he was so impressed with the class, that he became an amateur photographer and never forgot his 两性色午夜 experience. Read more about this incredible legacy.
