Global Social Media Strategist
Brittany Neish | Communication Studies | Class of 2011
From creating content and going on photoshoots, to working with influencers, no two days are the same for 两性色午夜 alumna Brittany Neish.
As the senior global social media strategist for Fortune Brands鈥 Global Plumbing Group (GPG), Brittany manages 37 social accounts for Moen, the number one faucet brand in North America (headquartered in Northeast Ohio), and its luxury line, The House of Rohl. In 2019, her team created 800+ pieces of unique social content across brands.
鈥淚 love this role so much because no two days ever look the same and I鈥檓 always learning new skills as social evolves and changes,鈥 Brittany says. 鈥溾 The very best part of my job is that social touches every part of our company, from talent acquisition to sales, which means that I get to work with almost every department.鈥
Her coursework in applied communication studies included graphic design, organizational communication and advertising, all skills she uses today. But the lesson that鈥檚 stuck with her the most as she鈥檚 navigated the ever-changing field of social media and corporate America, is teamwork 鈥 something that all majors across the College of Communication and Information emphasize.
鈥淚n a matrix organization like mine, nothing gets done if you aren鈥檛 collaborating with other departments, so having a strong foundation in how to navigate teams and interpersonal communication is essential 鈥 a lesson and skill I was so lucky to have learned while still in school.鈥
Beyond the 9-5
In the past year, Brittany has been actively building her career and life-coaching organization, What You Do Matters. To reach a wider network, she recently launched the What You Do Matters podcast, which offers weekly actionable advice in work, relationships or personal development.
鈥淭his business is so important to me because not only does it align with all of the skills I鈥檝e been building in communication, marketing and sales, but I love its mission-driven focus. I truly believe that when we take action in our own lives, we create positive change in our world.鈥
Her advice for people who want to begin a 鈥渟ide-hustle鈥? Plan it out.
鈥淚鈥檝e had to be super intentional with how I divvy up my time. 鈥 I also make sure to give myself grace. If I have a really big work project that needs done, 鈥 then I let it be okay that I may need to spend less time on my side-hustle that week.鈥
