“As a teacher I prepare undergraduates to work in their chosen career field and I train graduate students to become stellar researchers and educators. As a researcher, I strive to help explain media processes and psychology both theoretically and practically.”
Dr. Limperos always knew he wanted to teach. His grandfather, aunt and mom all pursued education degrees and he wanted to follow in their footsteps. What he didn’t know was the grade level he wanted to teach. He discovered this quickly when he began his college career studying communications at ɫҹ and met the faculty members. He then knew he wanted to become a college professor.
“I began to understand more clearly how I could conduct original research as the path to becoming a faculty member. A combination of my family influences and educational experiences at Kent made me pursue becoming a professor,” Limperos says.
Dr. Limperos is an Associate Professor of Communication at the University of Kentucky. Limperos has an active research program that focuses on media uses and effects, in the areas of new communication technology, video games, instruction and health. He also teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses focusing on strategic communication, communication theory, mass communication and research methods.
Prior to teaching at the University Kentucky, Dr. Limperos served as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Communication Studies at ɫҹ before moving on to Penn State University where he studied mass communication and earned his Ph.D. in 2011.
In 2017, Dr. Limperos became a tenured professor at the University of Kentucky. Over the course of his career, he has received awards for both teaching and research. Notable achievements include receiving a College Teaching Excellence Award from the University of Kentucky in 2013 and earning top paper accolades at annual conferences including the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC), the National Communication Association (NCA) and the International Communication Association (ICA).
He has presented his research nationally and internationally and has been published in many peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Limperos currently lives in Lexington, Kentucky with his wife, Mansi Limperos, '04, who he met at ɫҹ, and son and daughter.
